Dos Pueblos’ Tommy Johnson is improving after major health scare

Dos Pueblos High School senior and football player Tommy Johnson is recovering tonight after fighting for his life earlier this week at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

Johnson was diagnosed with rhinovirus, enterovirus and strep and was put on a ventilator on Tuesday night according to Chargers head football coach Nate Mendoza.

But he is now off of a ventilator and breathing on his own. Mendoza told me by phone that Johnson may be released from the hospital this weekend.

His teammates have dedicated tonight’s CIF Division 10 first round playoff game against Mission Prep to Tommy Johnson. Kickoff is 7pm.
