High school students clash with Trump supporters

Several students from Santa Barbara High School clashed with other students wearing Trump t-shirts in support for the new President-Elect Wednesday afternoon.

Santa Barbara police officers stood by the Trump t-shirt-wearing students for their safety as anti-Trump protesters yelled obscenities directed at the Trump supporters.

Although no physical violence erupted, police officers were seen trying to de-escalate the tense situation from getting out of control.

The rally, held in solidarity with those communities negatively affected by Trump’s win, gathered at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Gardens, and was, for the most part, peaceful.

Santa Barbara, San Marcos, and Dos Pueblos high schools staged a walk-out at noon Wednesday, joining the dozens of protests and marches happening across the U.S.
