New discoveries exposed at Lake Cachuma amid historic drought
The Old Highway 150 by Lake Cachuma is not underwater anymore.
The effects of the California drought leaves it dry and exposed. Freshwater clam shells, sedimentation and brush remain in place of the water.
Highway 150 was closed during the 1950’s because of the construction of a dam. In its place, Highway 154 was paved.
Now, the lake is only at 7.3% capacity following five years of a statewide drought.
