Evacuation warning issued for Sherpa Fire burn areas

Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management issued an evacuation warning for areas affected by the Sherpa Fire only. The burns area affected are Refugio Canyon, Las Flores Canyon, and El Capitan Canyon.

Officials ask residents living in these zones to be prepared to evacuate.

An evacuation order could be announced in the event of a flash flood. Heaviest rain is expected between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday. People feel threatened by flood or rain, residents can evacuate now.

The Sherpa Fire broke out in August and burned over seven thousand acres.

The fire is 100% contained and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
