SLO declares ‘Safety Enhancement Zone’ for Halloween

In anticipation of the upcoming Halloween weekend celebrations, the City of San Luis Obispo has declared by ordinance, that a Safety Enhancement Zone be in effect citywide during Halloween.

In the past, nuisance crimes, noise and related activity in the neighborhoods and downtown area, have risen during Halloween, leading to the SLO Police Department to experience an increase in emergency calls.

The Safety Enhancement Zone period will be in place from Monday, October 31st at midnight, to Tuesday, November 1st at 7 a.m.

SLO PD will deploy a maximum number of officers to cover the entire weekend leading up to and including Halloween.

Fines will be doubled during the Safety Enhancement Period. Citations can be written by both SLO police and Cal Poly Police Department officers.

Violations include:

Noise Disturbance Urinating in Public Open alcohol containers Carrying dangerous and deadly weapons Being a Social Host Unruly Gathering
