San Marcos water polo scores big win over Dons

When Spencer Wood scored late in the third quarter, San Marcos led Santa Barbara 10-9.

After a defensive final quarter, that’s how the game would also end, 10-9 as the Royals hand the Dons their first Channel League loss on the season. The Dons, who already clinched the title, are now 6-1 in league while San Marcos took a big step to secure second place as they improve to 4-2.

Miles Cole and Jesse Morrison led the Royals with three goals each while Ben Spievak was terrific in goal for San Marcos.

Despite the loss, Dons star Sawyer Rhodes had another monster game as the Stanford-commit scored 8 goals.
