Nov. 8 general election voting now underway
Vote by mail ballots for the November 8 election will go out tomorrow instead of today. Due to the Columbus Day federal holiday the post office is closed.
According to the latest numbers, more than half the registered voters in Santa Barbara County will vote by mail.
County Registrar of Voters Joe Holland says there are many candidate races and propositions on the ballot at all levels. He says voters should not feel overwhelmed if they are not familiar with all the issues. “You don’t have to vote every contest on the ballot. If you have questions about a proposition move on and vote what you are familiar with.”
The voter information guide, the largest in California election history, along with a sample ballot have been mailed out to all voters. They are asked to go over their choices and bring that information to the polling place if they are voting in person.
The last day to register to vote is October 24.
For voters than have an issues with their registration, or haven’t received election materials, those questions cam be answered at the counter at the elections office.
If you are registered, you can also request your ballot on the spot and vote.
