Goleta announces Halloween parking restrictions

The City of Goleta will implement it’s temporary, resident-only parking program for Halloween this year. City officials created the program in 2014 to deal with parking problems caused by thousands of Halloween revelers who fill up the city and Isla Vista.

The parking restrictions will impact Goleta neighborhoods closest to all of the action in Isla Vista, including University 1 and University 2 and the Cannon Green Condominium complex. The boundaries are: Cannon Green Drive to the west, Hollister Avenue to the north, Storke Road to the east and Whittier Drive to the south.

Every household in the enforcement area will receive two passes. Those passes will be mailed before October 25. The parking permits must be taped to the inside of the vehicle’s driver side window during the restricted hours. Those hours run from 7 p.m. Friday, October 28 to 7 a.m. Saturday, October 29 and from 7 p.m. Saturday, October 29 to 7 a.m. Sunday, October 30.

Signs will be posted to remind residents and electronic message boards will be set up as well. Vehicles not displaying the appropriate permit will be subject to ticketing and/or towing.

The overnight parking restrictions will not affect AYSO soccer games or others visiting Girsh Park over the Halloween weekend.

If you live in the designated area and do not receive a parking permit by October 25, contact the City of Goleta Neighborhood Services Department at 805-961-7558.
