Cruz Ramos starts her position as the new City Administrator for Guadalupe

There is a new City Administrator in Guadalupe.

“The community, the residents, they are our bosses, and yes, we work as a team that is the way we operate,” says Cruz Ramos.

During her second day in her new position Ramos says she is ready to work closely with the city’s staff and the residents.

She is no stranger to a job like this. Before being hired, she worked for more than 12 years as a City Manager in the Fresno area.

Ramos says she her background will help her identify with the community she is now serving. It’s something, Mayor John Lizalde, says was key in hiring her.

“It’s always hard for Guadalupe to find someone with a similar connection. With Guadalupe being in the middle of ag-country on the Central Coast and also being able to work with maybe not a full staff and with the experience she has she qualifies,” says Mayor Lizalde.

Ramos says among her list of goals is to speak with people who work and live in the area and see things from their point of view.

She hopes this will help her tackle some of the issues in the community.

“There are many issues that are prevalent in a small and rural community like Guadalupe and throughout the nation, Guadalupe is not unique in that regard, we are ag-based, we are sort of land locked, we don’t have large commercial establishments and the demographics speak for themselves,” says Ramos.

She will be in the position for the next three years and help to lead the city.

“My thing is to come to these small communities, give what I can, improve what I can and leave it better than what it was,” she says.
