Buena High School Crowns Special Ed Student Homecoming King

Buena High School in Ventura has crowned a special ed student its homecoming king.

It’s a moment Ian McKeever had only dreamed of, his classmates at Buena High school voting him the homecoming king.

Buena High School student Mia Mumford nominated McKeever after talking with his teacher and parents. Following a social media campaign McKeever was not only nominated he won after getting the majority votes.

“When I went to the football game it was elating there. It was fantastic, the crowd went wild, and that same excitement followed through at the homecoming dance. It was a great senior moment for Ian, he will never forget this,” said McKeever’s teacher Robin Fenstermacher.

While McKeever is non-verbal the smile on his face and the joy he expresses as he walks around campus says it all, and McKeever is still wearing his crown.
