Cabrillo High School Aquarium to raise money for fallen firefighter

Every day during the Canyon fire, students at Cabrillo High School say the firefighters were on the forefronts of their minds

“It was almost hard to breathe because the air quality was really bad. We would talk about it in class and we were really worried about what was going on because a lot of the practices got canceled, a lot of the games got canceled, and so it was something we were genuinely worried about”, says Aquarium Curator, Maha Gul.

Then tragedy struck – Ventura County Firefighter Ryan Osler was killed in a car accident.

“We heard about what happened and we knew it was extremely devastating that someone came to help our community and you know what happened – and so our community wanted to give back,” Gul tells us.

Now the students at Cabrillo High are using their popular aquarium to help raise money for the family.

“Any opportunity that we get to use the aquarium that can benefit the community we would like to do,” Gul explains.

The student organizers of this event say they would like to meet the Oslers in person to pay their respects.
The community is invited to their open house where they will be accepting donations or you can click here and donate to the Ventura County Firefighters Association directly.
