California Coastal Cleanup Day Made Beaches Look Pristine

Schools, churches, nonprofits and other groups pitched in during California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday.

They cleaned about 900 locations including Mandalay Beach in Oxnard.

Volunteers from Rio Mesa High School, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps combed the beach for trash.

They filled bags and buckets with cigarette butts, fast foot wrappers and oil covered litter.

The trash will be weighed and studied before next year.
