Missing Diver Found By Coast Guard Crew Near Cambria

The Coast Guard released the following information:

The Coast Guard located a female diver who was reported missing one mile west of Cambria Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Coast Guard Station Morro Bay received a distress call from the diver’s husband who was diving with her at the time. He reported that after coming to the surface with her, he noticed that his vessel had drifted. Upon returning with the boat, his wife had disappeared.

A Coast Guard 47-foot motor life boat crew from Station Morro Bay, along with a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Forward Operating Base Mugu, and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department began searching with helicopter and land units for the female diver.

The Coast Guard 47-foot motor life boat crew located the woman 1.5 miles south east of where she went missing.

She was reported to be floating and conscious, and waving down the Coast Guard boat with her orange flotation device.

The Coast Guard crew safely transferred the diver to Station Morro Bay where EMS was waiting. The diver was equipped with a signaling device, dry suit and an inflatable flotation device.
