Santa Maria Mom Says Man Allegedly Tried to Lure Her Daughter Into His Car

Julie Madrigal says felt “instant anger, instant anger and rage” when her daughter told her someone tried to allegedly lure her into their car.

Her daughter says a man driving a white and brown van drove up to her while she was walking alone.

“As I was talking there was the van that pulled up next to me and then opened the door and told me to get inside of the van,” she says.

Madrigal says she did not want her daughter’s face or name to be given out and wanted to keep her identity private.

Her daughter says this happened last Friday. She says she was getting off of the bus to meet up with a friend to go a football game at Pioneer Valley High School.

“It was the worst feeling like a teenager shouldn’t have to go through that,” says Madrigal’s daughter.

She says the man driving the van allegedly kept driving next to her until she finally took off running.

Days later she says they saw the same van again and that’s when they called the Santa Maria Police Department.

She says they searched his car and let him go.

“They let him go right in front of her so again she’s not she doesn’t feel safe,” says Madrigal.

Santa Maria Police say they investigated the allegations.

They say after doing so they found nothing had happened with the man driving the van.

But, for Julie and her daughter it’s an experience they say they won’t forget.

“Don’t walk alone always walk with two or three other people if possible,” she says.
