Search and Rescue Team Recovering Body of Man Off Highway 1

California Highway Patrol Officials say they have recovered the body of a man found down a 100 foot embankment along Highway 1.

Search and rescue teams have propelled down to recover his body. His identity is not known yet.

Officials say the man is thought to have crashed last Saturday as he was driving into Lompoc. It is unknown how he lost control of his car.

They say a passerby noticed the car that went into the embankment and alerted authorities.

That’s when officials say they arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead.

As of Thursday night, the car the man was driving remained in the embankment.

Officials say they will be back out into the area to recover the car tomorrow when it’s safe and daylight.
