Local concrete company steps up to help elderly Orcutt woman who says she was scammed
ORCUTT, Calif.
A few weeks ago we told you about an elderly Orcutt woman who says she was taken for hundreds of dollars by scammers who promised a driveway repair.
By now many people here on the Central Coast know who 88-year-old Fayetta Niss is. She says she was scammed out of $700 last month in a driveway pavement scam..
Today, a local concrete company has stepped up and is replacing her driveway for free. Fayetta told KCOY earlier that she couldn’t be any more grateful.
The reason why Niss needs a new driveway is because last month she says two men came to her door and told her she was in desperate need of driveway repair – but they ended up only spraying down a black rubberized gunk on the driveway instead of doing any real repairs or fixing any cracks – just taking off with her money.
Just-in-Time Concrete Owner Justin Ford says when he heard 88-year-old Fayetta Niss’ story, he had to do something.
“I just felt so bad, there’s contractors out there that are deceiving customers, making them think they’re getting a great deal, taking their money and running,” Owner of Just-in-Time Concrete Justin Ford said.
“It’s a blessing and I just can’t believe it’s true, that it’s happening,” Niss said.
Today Ford and his crew tore out all the old asphalt, compacted the dirt and started preparation for pouring the concrete.
Just-in-Time Concrete says they plan to have this driveway completely finished by Friday.
