Local Companies Raise Money Together

The Arroyo Grande based For Good Company, recently teamed with Doc Burnstein’s Ice Cream Lab to raise enough money to drill a clean water well in Africa.

Six thousand dollars was raised at Doc Burnstein’s through sales of “Water for Good.”

Since 2013, the For Good Company, in cooperation with San Luis Obispo based non-profit, Lifewater International, has raised enough funds to drill six water wells in Africa through the sale of bottled water and other products.

Support of the For Good Company follows Doc Burnstein’s 10% Giving Back Pledge. “Inspired by For Good Company, we helped bring clean drinking water to an entire community for years. There are few ways our efforts could make a larger impact on lives than this.” states Greg Steinberger, Founder of Doc Burnstein’s Ice Cream Lab. That’s why he challenged staff and shareholders to increase sales of Water for Good and solicit donations that raised the $6,000 needed to build a clean-water well through Lifewater International.

Since 2013 the For Good Company has been creating an opportunity for ‘consumer activism’, offering products with a significant giving-back pledge. Purchasing just one liter of Water for Good results in full year of clean drinking water to person in need. “We started the For Good Company to help meet the basic needs of the less fortunate in the world, and water is a very basic need. Our products are intended to start a conversation locally that will have an international reach.” said Rob Hatch, Founder, For Good Company

Products carried throughout the Central Coast include Water for Good, Coffee for Good, and Tea for Good. All products help those most in need. For Good Company products are available as Coastal Peaks Coffee, Caf Andreini, SLO Donut Company, and St. Patrick’s Catholic School, as well as Doc Burnstein’s. “Our goal is to one day see the Central Coast be responsible for 100 clean water wells, making a monumental impact on the communities the wells will serve,” states Eric Wildey, For Good Spokesman.

Lifewater International is a non-profit water development organization dedicated to effectively serving vulnerable children and families by partnering with under-served communities to overcome water poverty. With experience in more than 40 countries since 1977, Lifewater has served over 2.5 million people. In 2015 alone, Lifewater served over 50,000 people with safe drinking water.
