Fire Information Boards Going Up for Public Information
Special public information boards have gone up at coffee shops and shopping centers on the front country of Santa Barbara County to get updated facts and maps out about the Rey fire .
The flames are burning in the hills behind Santa Barbara and Montecito. Containment this morning was 39 percent.
The wooden boards have been set up to help the public with more specifics about the fire’s potential, the equipment on the scene and a clear map as to where it is burning.
The fire began a week ago and has marched mainly north east from the point of origin on Paradise Road.
Many residents looking at the information board in the Camino Real Marketplace said they found it very helpful to see precisely where it was burning and what threat it was to the watershed area around Gibraltar reservoir.
One information board at the top of San Marcos Pass at times has a public information officer nearby to explain more about the fire in direct relation to the view of the burning valley nearby.
