Deckers Brand Lending A Hand To Victims Of Orlando Shooting
Back in June hundreds of people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando experienced a nightmare they will never forget. A gunman walked into the gay club shooting and killing 49 people and wounded 53 others.
Nearly two months later people are still trying to erase the images from their head.
“Deckers was impacted significantly by that event. Members from our team in Orlando were impacted by that so we felt empowered and encouraged to reach out to the community here in Santa Barbara to show our support in a financial way,” said Stephen Coyne, Deckers Brand Manager.
Deckers is based in Goleta. The footwear distributor is known around the world. People working at their three stores in Orlando were hit hard by the attack.
“Some of our employees actually had 3 or 4 very close friends who died in that tragedy so at Deckers when one part of our family is hurting we are all hurting,” said Coyne.
Deckers has been lending a hand ever since the tragedy first happened. And they haven’t stopped. This time the store has partnered up with the Pacific Pride Foundation in hopes of raising 10-thousand dollars.
On Sunday September 11th the store will donate 40% of the total sales made that day to the Foundation and to the Orlando victims.
The fundraiser will take place for one day only from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. If folks can not make it during that time, they can email Stephen.coyne@deckers.com to place an order online.
