Rey Fire Leads To Campfire Restrictions
The Los Padres National Forest increased fire restrictions on Tuesday.
Level IV restrictions are now in place due to the Rey fire and other fires burning in California during severe drought conditions.
Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire or stove fire are prohibited until the end of he 2016 fire season.
However, people with California Campfire permits may use portable stoves within campfire use sites.
Smoking is also banned at within campfire use sites.
Operating combustion engines without a spark arresting device is prohibited.
Anyone caught violating prohibitions could face $5,000 fines and 6 months jail time.
A list of the rules have been posted on message boards at scenic overlooks.
