Head-on Collision Closes Ventura Street For Hours

Ventura California Highway Patrol released the following information:
At 1:04 p.m. Wednesday, a major traffic collision occurred involving a silver 2012 Nissan Rogue, a blue 1997 Honda CR-V, and a gray 1987 Honda Accord on Bristol Road, east of Ermine Avenue in Ventura.
Nicole Sanchez, age 35 out of Ventura, was driving a silver 2012 Nissan Rogue on westbound Bristol Road, east of Ermine Avenue. Rita Pisani, age 74 out of Ventura, was driving a blue 1997 Honda CR-V on westbound Bristol Road, east of Ermine Avenue, along with two children, directly in front of the Nissan Rogue.
A male driver, age 56, was driving a gray 1987 Honda Accord on eastbound Bristol Road, east of Ermine Avenue. For reasons that are still under investigation, the Nissan Rogue collided with the rear of the Honda CR-V.
As a result of the collision, the Honda CR-V lost control and collided with a railroad crossing gate. The Nissan Rogue also lost control and veered into the eastbound lane of Bristol Road causing a head on collision with the Honda Accord.
The male driver of the Honda Accord sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center. Sanchez sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where she was also arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
Pisani along with the children did not sustain any injuries and were released at the scene. The collision is still under investigation by the Ventura Area CHP Office.

The California Highway Patrol is reporting a 4-hour closure of Bristol Road near Ermine Avenue in Ventura following an afternoon head-on crash.
The crash happened at about 2 p.m.
The occupants of the two vehicles involved have been taken to the hospital, according to the CHP. Their condition is unknown at this time.
Motorists driving through the area should expect delays.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
