Psychiatric Evaluation Continues for Murder Suspect Nicolas Holzer

A man accused of killing his family and pleading not guilty by insanity still has not been seen by a doctor.

Nicolas Holzer was charged with murder two years ago after Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s found his parents, two children and the family dog dead with multiple stab wounds inside a home in the 600 block of Walnut Park Lane near Goleta.

“At 11:03 p.m. Nicolas Holzer called 911 and in a calm and matter of fact manner told a dispatcher that he had killed his family…When Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene the suspect met them at the front door and was taken into custody without incident…Nicolas Holzer subsequently told detectives he had killed his family to fulfill what he believed was his destiny,” reads a Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office press release soon after the grisly discovery was made.

A court appointed doctor will see Holzer after he is done reviewing court documents.

His trial could begin in February 2017.
