A Car Struck And Killed A Woman Walking Her Dog In Ventura

Ventura Police said a car crash killed a woman and her dog around 6:22 p.m. on Saturday.

Investigators said the collision happened in the intersection of Telephone Rd. and Ramelli Ave.

First responders found the 45 pound short haired mix in the street.

A short time later the woman, in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Ventura Police said a 25 year old driver heading north on Ramelli Ave., where it dead ends, was making a left onto Telephone Road when he hit the woman and her dog in the crosswalk.

Officers marked the pavement during the investigation.]

No flowers or candles were left at the intersection on Sunday morning.

Police have not made any arrests and are trying to determine what caused the crash.
