Petroleum Oil Tank Fire Burning Nearly 2,000 Gallons in Ojai

The Ventura County Fire Department is responding to a petroleum oil tank fire in Ojai Friday morning.

Fire officials say they are letting the fire burn but are concerned about brush in the area. It’s believed that nearly 2,000 gallons are burning, which is about 42 barrels of oil. The 12 foot by 15 foot tank is in danger of collapsing, according to authorities.

Ventura County Fire Captain Mike Lindbery tweeted that the tank exploded at 8:36 a.m.

Fire crews are on the scene and more resources are on the way including a hand crew.

The fire is near Highway 150 and Topa Road on the 12700 block of Santa Paula Ojai road.
