Fiesta Cruiser Ride Participants Reminded to Use Safety and Caution During Event

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, County Public Works, and County Parks Department have teamed up to remind participants of the annual Fiesta Cruiser Ride to be safe and obey the rules of the road.

The Fiesta Cruiser Ride is an unsanctioned event that has drawn hundreds of participants over the years.

Sheriff’s deputies will be on the lookout for bicyclists that violate traffic laws and they will be cited.

Most common road violations by bicyclists during this event include: failure to ride as close as practical to the right hand curb, failure to obey red signal lights, and failure to obey stop signs.

Authorities also remind participants to be mindful and observant of construction area signs around Goleta Beach and be prepared to follow any detours.

The Fiesta Cruiser Ride is scheduled for Sunday, August, 7. The event starts at the Santa Barbara waterfront and travels through unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County to Isla Vista and back.

Motorists should be aware of large bicycle groups on the road during the event, and are encouraged to exercise patience.
