Aircraft Emergency Reported on U.S. Highway 101 Near Los Alamos

It now appears a passerby near Alisos Canyon Road mistook a PG&E helicopter inspecting power lines in the area, as being in danger.

KCOY 12’s Dave Alley spoke with a Santa Barbara County Fire Battalion Chief on scene who confirmed the PG&E helicopter was flying low for the purposes of inspecting power lines and power poles. The helicopter however was never in any danger.

When the helicopter disappeared from view, the passerby called 911.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department sent a full fire response but ultimately were unable to locate the aircraft.

ORIGINAL STORY

Emergency personnel and law enforcement units are investigating reports of a downed helicopter caught in power lines near the area of U.S Highway 101 and Alison Canyon Road that occurred just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

There are no sparks and no fire reported at this time, according to the California Highway Patrol.

No other details were immediately known.
