C.A.R.L. Helps House Rescue Dogs Impacted By Sand Fire

The Sand fire prompts thousands of evacuations in the Santa Clarita Valley this week including an animal rescue center.

The Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation had to find temporary homes for more than 100 animals when the fire moved dangerously close to its rescue center in the Santa Clarita Valley, but thankfully other rescues like Canine Adoption and Rescue League (C.A.R.L.) in Santa Paula stepped up to help them out by providing temporary shelter for the dogs as long as necessary.

“We were more than happy to take them in. We had a little bit of time to prepare and get their kennels ready. We have been in that position before. We had to get evacuated from here, and the feeling that our dogs were safe and taken care of and had somewhere to go was a huge relief, so we knew the feeling that us and the rescue community had to stick together,” said Alison Kusay of Canine Adoption and Rescue League.

The 26 dogs C.A.R.L. is currently taking care of for L.B.W.F. are expected to be able to head back home to the Santa Clarita Valley by the end of this week.
