Former Bill Clinton Speech Writer Attends Democratic National Convention
Former Bill Clinton speech writer and Santa Barbara resident Laura Capps is attending the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Capps witnessed the historic moment Hillary Clinton won the nomination, along with her mother Congresswoman Lois Capps.
Capps said she understands why some delegates are still rooting for Sen. Bernie Sanders.
“We had a robust primary season. A lot of passion still exists for those who supported Sen. Sanders,” Capps said. “He did a lot to convey anger and some real challenges that our country faces.”
Capps former boss Bill Clinton will take the stage at the DNC on Tuesday night.
“I can’t wait to hear him. People refer to him as the ‘Explainer in Chief’ because he has the best way possible of explaining the policies we are facing and how his wife is best equipped to be our next president.”
This is Capps sixth appearance at the DNC.
While in Philadelphia, she also spoke on a panel about global maternal and child health with Mark Shriver of Save the Children.
