Toddler Rescued Near Stearns Wharf

UPDATE: Santa Barbara Police tel KEYT/KCOY/KKFX the boy suffered a medical emergency before falling into the water briefly. Police would not specify what type of emergency. The boy was taken to the hospital and is doing OK.

A two-year-old boy was found face down in the water near Stearns Wharf around 7:19 p.m. on Sunday.

Santa Barbara police credit paramedics for giving CPR to the boy who was unresponsive at first , but then police said he started to cry.

The toddler was taken to Cottage Hospital for further care.

Police said it began as a chaotic scene with a family looking for the missing child.

The exact condition of the child has not been released.
