Santa Barbara Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested and Identified

Police have arrested and identified the suspect accused in a sexual assault in Santa Barbara as Matthew Robert Torres, 39, a transient with ties to Ventura County.
Torres was arrested for two counts of sexual assault and burglary.
The victims are two girls under the age of 14. Torres was captured on surveillance video released on July 23. Police said they received multiple tips from the public and local businesses.
Torres bail is set at $100,000.00.

Santa Barbara Police sought the public’s assistance to find a sexual assault suspect on Saturday morning.
They said the assault occurred when a man entered an unlocked home and sexually assaulted the victim.
They said he may have a developmental disability or speech impairment.
