Samaritans Fight off Attacker of Oceano Woman

UPDATE - Jan. 1, 2021:

"In case SLO Superior Court case number 16F-06824, Mr. Groves, he was convicted a felony violation of 422 PC (criminal threats) and was sentenced to 897 days jail (calculated as 651 actual (404 of which were spent at Atascadero State Hospital pursuant to PC 1368 et seq.) and 246 conduct credits). He was given a three-year grant of formal probation, including the directive to company with Behavioral Health and ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution. According to court records probation is set to expire May 17, 2021."

A man is under arrest after he allegedly attacked a woman in her own yard.

It happened on the 1300 block of 23rd street in Oceano Wednesday.

A woman came home after a walk with her toddler and found Kenneth Groves in her yard.

Police say the 55-year-old grabbed her throat and threatened to kill her with a knife.

She screamed for help and three men in a car heard it.

They jumped a fence, fought with Groves and held him until police arrived.

Groves is now facing a number of charges including assault with a deadly weapon.
