Hundreds of Santa Barbara County Kids Play Olympic Style Games

Over 300 kids from United Way of Santa Barbara County will be play in their own Olympic games Wednesday.

The children are participants of a six-week summer program which provides them with a fun learning environment with a daily emphasis on literacy, including reading and writing.

These students also get to go on field trips. The games will encourage team building, leadership and problem-solving skills.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. yo 2 p.m. at El Camino Elementary School in Santa Barbara.

Some of the games will include relay races, hula-hooping, and a shower cap/shaving cream toss.

“We are thrilled to celebrate another successful Fun in the Sun. Althought we focus primarily on academics, it is important to incorporate play and games as valuable educational opportunities,” said Paul Didier, CEO and President of United Way of Santa Barbara County.
