Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews jumped on a brush fire Monday morning near Mariposa Reina in Gaviota.
Fire officials say the blaze was reported just before 6:50 a.m. and took firefighters about 20 minutes to stop the forward progress of the flames. Three acres have burned along the northbound side of Highway 101. It is not known what sparked the fire but Caltrans work was being done in the area.
One traffic lane was closed as crews worked the fire lines. Slowing in the area is still expected.
