Sailors Race From Newport To Ensenada

Sailors from Santa Barbara, Ventura and Oxnard have returned from the annual Newport to Ensenada race.

Famous diehard sailors such as Humprey Bogart launched the 125 nautical mile regatta in 1948.

Dick McNish and his Cheerio II crew won first in its class and most perpetual trophies.

Mcnish, who hosts his own namesake all-wooden boat race in August, is a member of the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor.

Cheerio II was once owned by actor Errol Flynn.
