Celebrity Iron Chef Lends A Hand To Organic Soup Kitchen

Celebrity chef Cat Cora hosted a fundraiser to benefit a Santa Barbara non-profit.

Dozens of people came out to East Beach on Saturday for Cora’s second annual Santa Barbara Beach Ball Fundraiser.

People enjoyed food, beach games and a fun workout hosted by fitness guru Jenny Schatzle.

All proceeds benefit The Organic Soup Kitchen.

The organization provides healthy meals to people impacted by medical or economic conditions.

The cause is close to Cora’s heart.

“They serve so many people, almost 3,600 hundred per month,” Cora said. “It’s important to serve organic and healthy food. I’m a big proponent of that. It’s a part of my platform as an Iron Chef. That’s not easy when you are running a soup kitchen. It’s not easy to serve organic. It’s very difficult. So for them to be able to do that is a huge accomplishment for them.”

This year the event raised close to $25,000 dollars.
