Santa Barbara Police Investigating Attempted Bank Robbery Near Montecito

The Santa Barbara Police Department has released surveillance video photos of the attempted bank robbery suspect.

Police say the male suspect tried to rob the Union Bank at 1030 Coast Village Road by presenting the bank teller with a demand note. However, the suspect fled the scene before receiving any cash.

Investigators are asking anyone that recognizes the man in the photos to call SBPD Det. Douglas Klug at 805-897-2346, or call anonymously at 805-897-2386.

Santa Barbara police are investigating a reported strong-arm robbery that occurred at the Union Bank located at 1030 Coast Village Road in Santa Barbara.

The incident occurred at about 3:32 p.m. The suspect fled the scene through the front door and it appears he left without any money, according to investigators.

The suspect is described as a White male adult in his 40’s and was last seen wearing a black shirt and a black baseball cap leaving in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

No other details were immediately known. We will update this story when new information becomes available.

This is the second bank robbery at a Union Bank in a week.
