Domestic Dispute Leads to Police Standoff in Ventura

A 30-year-old Oxnard man was taken into custody late Saturday night after what began as a domestic dispute led to a police standoff at 8 p.m.

Ventura police located a woman and a teenage boy who were able to get away from the suspect as he remained inside a home in the 8600 block of Denver Street in the city of Ventura.

Police say that as soon as the woman and teen got out of the house, a witness reported hearing several gun shots coming from inside the home.

The SWAT team was called in after Diaz refused to come out of the house. Diaz was arrested just before 11:30 p.m. Details on how Diaz was taken into custody were not released but police say that one officer was treated and released at Ventura County Medical Center for a minor wound. Diaz was not injured.

We will update this story when new information is released.
