Fire Crews Rescue Man, Dog From Cliff in Isla Vista

Santa Barbara County Firefighters rescued a man and his dog from a cliff in Isla Vista Monday afternoon.

The incident was originally reported as an ocean rescue at 3:44 p.m. just off Camino Lindo and Del Playa Drive. However, fire crews found a man described as being in his 20’s, stranded about 20 feet down the cliff while holding on to his dog.

Firefighters set up a rope system with a harness that was wrapped around the man. Him and the dog were lowered down to the beach safely.

Neither pair was injured in the incident.

It’s not clear how the man and dog became stranded on the cliff.
