Update: Stolen Car Lot VW Found – Thief on the Run

A stolen VW Cabrio has been found a few miles from the sales lot where it was taken December 22.

Santa Barbara Police say a parking enforcement officer located the car on Constance St. near Oak Park on Wednesday. It was not occupied. The suspect involved in the theft is still being sought.

Santa Barbara police are looking for a man suspected of stealing a black VW Cabrio from the 700 block of North Milpas Street on December 22.

An employee at Milpas Motors at 735 N. Milpas St. confirmed to NewsChannel 3 that the theft happened on their lot, during business hours, on Tuesday, December 22nd.

“Did he just drive it off the lot?” we asked. “He just drove it off the lot.”

The employee did not want to be identified, but did say that the client had left the keys inside the Cabrio.

Investigators released the above surveillance photo and are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect.

The stolen car has a New York license plate with the number CGC-2797.
