Small Vegetation Fire Snuffed Out Near El Capitan State Beach

Santa Barbara County Fire crews have extinguished a small vegetation fire that broke out along the railroad tracks near El Capitan State Beach.

The “Park” incident started just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon west of Goleta.

Rail service was shut down for about a mile in each direction while crews doused the flames.

Firefighters were able to get a handle on the fire and quickly put it out.

It was burning on the ocean side of the freeway and train tracks on an ocean bluff.

The cause is not known and remains under investigation.
