Oxnard Driver Killed When Car Collides with Tree

A driver is dead and an Oxnard woman is recovering from moderate injuries after a 2006 Nissan Maxima crashed head-on into a tree Tuesday night.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the Oxnard Police Department indicated that the Nissan was traveling southbound on Saviers Road approaching the intersection with Date Street at about 10 p.m.

For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and collided with a large tree nearby.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Angela Aguilera, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center with moderate injuries, and is listed in stable condition.

The Oxnard Police Department continues the investigation into the cause of the deadly collision. It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the incident.
