The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department invites community members of all ages and abilities to a free community walk Saturday.
Join fellow walking enthusiasts for some fresh air and exercise at the “Egg Scramble”.
Walk the one or two mile distances around the park and see how many hidden eggs can be found.
Some eggs have surprises inside; others can be redeemed for prizes.
FIREHOUSE 5K FUN RUN | ATASCADERO |SAT.| 7:30 AM | $35
The Atascadero Firefighter’s Association will host its forth annual Firehouse 5K Fun Run and Health and Fitness Fair.
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to raise money for the Atascadero Firefighter’s Association’s ongoing support of community projects
The race will begin and end at Fire Station 1 and will consist of a unique 5K course including both road and trails through Atascadero Stadium Park.
At the conclusion of the race, participants will have an opportunity to win raffle prizes and speak with various health and fitness specialists.
There will also be a kids’ mile run, snacks, drinks, tours of the fire station and fire engines.
HIKE TO COREOPSIS HILL | NIPOMO DUNES | SUN.| 9 AM | FREE
The Annual Hike to Coreopsis Hill (in the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes), is scheduled for 9am Sunday.
The hike will be a casual walk through the dunes to the top of Coreopsis Hill.
This is a moderate hike, about 3 hours round-trip.
Everyone is invited to join, and to Dress in layers, bring water and snacks.
