Strong Winds Topple Large Tree

A large tree was knocked down just after 4 p.m. Friday on the 400 block of East Pedregosa Street in Santa Barbara.

City fire Capt. Bob Kendalll said wind was to blame.

The homeowner said he didn’t hear it come down.

Kendall and two other firefighters spent about 20 minutes clearing the street and sidewalk.

Then they used chainsaws to cut the tree into pieces.

A wind advisory was in effect when it happened.
