Paso Robles Police Find Nothing in School Incidents
Paso Robles police have completed a search around an elementary school, finding no sign of a man with a weapon, as reported by two students on campus. Another alleged assault of a student at another school campus also proved to be unfounded.
Two Pat Butler Elementary School students ran in from recess Thursday morning, reporting threats from a man holding either a rifle or a shotgun. Administrators immediately called police, and placed the school on lockdown.
For about three hours, police searched with assistance from other law agencies near the school in the 700 block of Nicklaus Street, but found no sign of the man students claimed to have seen.
The school campus was re-opened to regular operations after the search was completed.
In a separate incident at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Paso Robles Police officers were also called to Virginia Peterson Elementary School when a female student claimed she was assaulted.
Officers responded to the campus in the 500 block of Beechwood Drive, where the student told them she had been assaulted in a school restroom by an adult man.
That school was locked down while officers investigated. They later determined the student’s claim was unsubstantiated.
