Courthouse Mural Room Gets a Four Month Refurbishing

Crews have brought in scaffolding to begin work on the landmark Mural Room in the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.

The Courthouse Legacy Foundation says the room has years of deferred work. It will cost about $700,000 for this project.

The project includes work on the beams, artwork, and ornamental iron.

Some of it was damaged by smoke in a fire back in 2010.

The room is often visited by tourists for its unique features including spectacular paintings that depict the history of Santa Barbara and exploration to the local coast.

The Mural Room reopens in May.
