CHP Officers Deliver Toys To Unity Shoppe

California Highway Patrol officers dropped off donated toys to the Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara.

The CHP has been collecting toys for the 2014 Chips for Kids Toy Drive since the beginning of December. Over 400 items were collected from various locations around the area. Three CHP SUVs delivered the toys Thursday morning.

The Unity Shoppe will distribute the toys to kids and families in need located around the Central Coast before the holidays.

Along with the CHP, Walgreens, Caltrans, Golden One Credit Union and Kernohan’s Toys also helped collect gifts this season.

CHP Officer Jonathan Gutierrez said, “We always want to be a community asset and you know part of being part of the California Highway Patrol is to protect the community and serve the community and this is a service we provide and we believe in it whole-heartedly.”

The Unity Shoppe volunteers distributed the donated toys to families throughout the day.
