Las Posadas Tradition Began at El Presidio
The 24th annual celebration of Una Noche de las Posadas began at El Presidio Chapel on Friday night.
The tradition that began in Mexico and Spain was brought to Santa Barbara by settlers.
Children played the role of Mary and Joseph as they commemorated the journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem to find shelter.
People sang songs along the route that ended at la Casa de la Guerra Historic House Museum.
The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation sponsored the event.
