Storm Worsens McGrath Flooding

Flooding at McGrath State Beach Park makes the park look like a duck pond.

Rain is being trapped by a natural sand berm. The berm is usually knocked down by rain, but after several years of drought the berm has trapped ocean water and rainwater inside the campground.

Park rangers guarded the closed gate on Friday.

The park has been closed since August.

When it is open thousand of campers and bird watchers are known to enjoy the beach and visit area businesses.
