Over 700 Motorcycles in the 2014 Unity Toy Run

Over 700 motorcycles growled together during Sunday’s annual toy run for the Unity Shoppe.

The ride began on Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria about 10:30 a.m. Santa Barbara police and the California Highway Patrol were part of the escort team that cleared intersections.The route took the riders through Montecito, Santa Barbara and Goleta.

Along the way many people came out to wave to the riders, with the largest group in the heart of downtown.

The ride ended at the Elk’s Lodge in Goleta.

There, a pile of toys was formed. They will be delivered through Unity to needy children in the area.

This is an annual effort and it results in hundreds of toy donations. Video of the ride will be shown on the annul Unity Telethon on NewsChannel 3 Saturday December 13 starting at 4 p.m.
