UCSB Rips Seattle, Williams Sets Career Rebounding Record

Big Sauce has moved past Freeze.

UCSB senior Alan Williams set the school’s career rebounding record in the Gauchos 87-46 thrashing of Seattle University. Williams now has 910 career rebounds, moving him past Eric “Freeze” McArthur who had set the record back in 1990. On the night “Big Sauce,” Alan Williams scored 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots.

Michael Bryson added 14 points and John Green and Gabe Vincent 11 apiece for the Gauchos (4-3), who made 36 of 61 shots for 59 percent, including 12 of 22 from 3-point range for 54.5 percent.

The Redhawks (3-4) had one player in double figures, Isiah Umipig, with 10 points. Seattle hit just 17 of 53 shots for 32.1 percent, making only 5 of 20 from beyond the arc.

The Gauchos sped to a 27-8 lead over the first 9 minutes of the game and led 42-19 at halftime.

Seattle, which opened with five games at home and then another in nearby Kent, Washington, had a two-game win streak snapped.

UC Santa Barbara has won four of its last five games. They play at SMU on Monday.
